Under or Over?---A wife's lesson

Bret and I have been known to have a random conversation or two in our over seven years of marriage. But every once in a while, the randomness can lead to a revelation.

Me: Do we need toilet paper?

Bret: Yes.

Me: Is it on the Target list?

Bret: I think.

Me: How do you like your toilet paper? Under or over?

Bret: Honestly, I just prefer it on the roll!

Wife confession no. 245---As embarrassed as I am to admit it, I have an awfully bad habit of not always putting the new toilet paper on the roll. But it wasn't until this conversation that I realized just how much my omission bugged my husband. I could blame my toilet paper faux pas on the audience of one that now accompanies me on my every trip to the lou, or say that my days are just so busy that I can't be bothered with such mundane tasks. But that would be a bunch of malarky! Gillian Grace is just a harmless observer, and no one, not even Oprah, is that busy.

So I'm guessing that must just mean I'm lazy! But, I promise to right this wrong beginning now and never again leave my darlin' without his Charmin!

Hahaha!!!! Too cute. I have a habit of just sticking the new toilet paper roll upright on top of the empty one. THAT is extreme laziness I know and I have no children accompanying me. Hehehe.

That is so funny!! I wish I could remember conversations with my husband that sounds just like that.

Funny! We had to have a TP intervention at our house b/c I was buying generic paper. The Mister, who is usually impressed when I go frugal (and never puts his own roll in the holder) made it very clear: we don't skimp on TP. HEE!

I'm a stickler for making sure the toilet paper is on the roll AND that there is a backup roll within arm's reach. On top of all that, if the paper rolls out over the top, I'm prone to flip it over. I think my mom always had the rolls coming from the back, so I have to have it the exact same way. Talk about OCD!

hahaha! That is funny~ I'm the same way though, I almost never put the tp on the roll!

We did decide that it goes over, b/c that's how they make those cute little folds on the cruise! LOL

I DO DECLARE: My 11 year old told me years ago that we NEVER skimp on tp! He said "Mommy did you buy bad toliet papeer it hurts?" (he was 3 at the time)

That is hilarious. I can be bad about that in the girls' bathroom but I am good in ours. I wonder what that means?

Sadly, I am guilty of this as well. And I don't suggest making the bring baby to the potty a habit. My boys don't do it, but my three girls, including my oldest who is 12, still come in when I am "busy". I have even been interrupted to be asked "what's for dinner, Mom?"

So funny! I didn't even know there was a "right" way to put the tp on the roll...I learned that the correct way is over after reading postsecret one Sunday and so many people get mad when it is on the wrong way!

Were you a journalism major? You have a way with words.
I think I have the same problem because my husband has taken to putting an extra roll of tissue on top of the back of the tank. It looks unsightly in my opinion, but after having been left with no tissue, I'm sure he doesn't care. By the way....over is the proper way to place the tissue on the roller. Any other way is unacceptable in my house.

Is it sad that I knew the proper way was over? That this is actually something my mom taught me? Yikes.

We also iron our napkins too.

BTW, I found some awesome UF dresses on etsy. Football season is almost here!

When we moved we got tp holders that look like the one in the post because I know I am too lazy to undo the spring loaded ones and put on a new roll. Ask anyone who has ever lived with me. ;)

But to answer your question, OVER.

That is funny. My hubby and I have had conversations like that before!

love this post.. cute!! We are the complete opposite in my house. My Brett cannot seem to ever get a new roll on, its always left to me! haha

Love that bit of passive aggressiveness! I am TERRIBLE at putting in on the roll too. But when I do, it simply MUST be over. I would def prefer it to be off the roll than on it incorrectly!

I do the same thing and it drives my husband crazy!

Funny you should post this because in my house it IS my daughter fault the tp is not on the roll! I have to put it up high when i'm done with it or she will take it and tear it up all over the house :)

I always put it on...and it HAS to be OVER (hate under!!)

hahahaha, love it! I too am bad at not putting it back on the roll :-)

HA! I actually have never really given a lot of thought to how we do the TP at our house. I will have to check it out! :)

Haha this made my day. I'm definitely an over type of tp user.
