Clearly my fascination for cars began at a very young age. Since my sixteenth birthday, I've had 4 different cars; I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Gillian Grace doesn't inherit my predilection for big expensive toys!



Five Question Friday

1. Do you have any nicknames and if so how did it come about?

I have several nicknames. My family calls me Sly (initials of my first, middle, and maiden name); my grandfather calls me Windy because he thinks I talk incredibly fast; my mom has called me Myrtle Mae since I can remember, but why I'm not sure; and my Aunt Helen still calls me Toot to this day. And, no Toot doesn't have anything to do with what the name implies---I'm a lady, remember!

2. What is your birth order amongst your siblings?

I am an only child, so I guess that makes me the first and the last!



3. In a movie of your life, who would play your significant other?

If I could cast anyone to play hubs in a movie of our life I'd choose Ben Affleck. He's always been able to fly under the Hollywood radar and lead a seemingly normal life. He's good looking; is what appears to be a great family man; and has played a lot of very different roles. And though not part of the question, I'd also choose his real life wife, Jennifer Garner to play me.

4. What is currently your favorite song?

My favorite song right now has to be Soul Sister by Train. It's a little over-played, but that doesn't bother me much because Gillian Grace lights up like Time Square every time she hears the opening riff. Hey, hey, hey...



5. Are you saving your money for anything right now? Big or small purchase?

Feels like we're always trying to save money, it's just a little harder now that I'm a stay-at-home mom without an income! There are tons of home renovation projects, like new windows and siding, on our wish list. And of course there's someone's college education to consider. It's too bad money really doesn't grow on trees!

Nothing says "Welcome to the world," quite like a quick rinse under a hospital sink spigot.

Hey there's a baby in that bucket! Hard to believe GG was small enough to bathe in the kitchen sink!


{September, 2009}

Still bathing in the sink, but no more buckets for our Little Bean. Only DELUXE accommodations will do! With a taste of the good life I'm pretty sure there will be no turning back now. Do I see spa bills in the future?

Rubber Ducky, you're the one! GG loved this inflated tub to pieces. It made the transition from sink to tub so much easier.

1. Do you collect anything?

Sadly, the only thing collecting around here is dust. Well, dust and diapers...

2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.

Hmm, only 3 huh? Okay, in no particular order...

And, this last one should come as no surprise...

3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind it (them?)?

I have a few scars on my forearms from minor run-ins with the oven and iron, but it's the scar that no one ever sees that I'm most proud of, my c-section scar. This scar is a small reminder of my biggest accomplishment.

4. What is a food that you like to eat, but others might think it's gross or weird?

I am a hot pickle fanatic! The hotter and spicier the better!


5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life?

I have seen water spouts but, thankfully, I have never seen a tornado that originated on land. I have seen the destruction they leave in their wake, as it is not unusual for hurricanes to spawn tornadoes once they are ashore. Several years ago, Hurricane Ivan produced many localized tornadoes around my parents' home. One in particular ripped down their street entangling two pine trees in the neighbor's yard like a bread twist tie.

And you thought I was exaggerating! Mother Nature's no joke!

Even though Gillian Grace's birthday is not until next week, tomorrow we will celebrate with family and friends. It's go time! Preparations are in full swing! I'm looking forward sharing all the party details next week.
