Oops, I did it again...

The truth is God blessed us with a very content baby. Gillian Grace just doesn't fuss unless she's hurt or just not feeling up to par. So the other day when GG was acting a bit out of sorts, I began immediately running through my checklist of things that could possibly be troubling my tiny tot.

Teething? I gave her a few Hyland's Teething tablets.

Dirty diaper? Nope, a quick sniff ruled that out.

Thirsty? Nothing a cup of juice water wouldn't fix.

Hungry? Let's try a few Gerber puffs for a snack.

Tired? Nah, couldn't be! She just got up from her morning nap.

Finally I settled on the conclusion that it must just be one of those days.

So imagine my surprise {and guilt} when I discovered a little something extra in GG's onesie during a diaper change later that afternoon.

Since her post-nap diaper change, GG had been toting around a tube of tushie paste in her onesie. And we're not talking about a teeny travel size, but a huge full-size practically new tube of Desitin that spent the afternoon poking and prodding Gillian's sides and tummy while on a joy ride through her romper. Now I'm no Sherlock Holmes, and I've certainly never spent the afternoon with a tube of anything floating around in my underroos, but I was pretty sure I'd found the reason behind GG's irritability. I felt terribly for being the cause of her discomfort, but felt worse knowing that this was not the first time my sweet baby girl had spent an afternoon smuggling contraband in her britches no thanks to me.

Does mommy brain have a statue of limitations? I could really use a good excuse for my stupidity right about now.

Hahaha!!! OMG! I seriously busted out laughing! That tube is HUGE! And to be stuck in her diaper...bless her heart!! You will look back and laugh at this! Great story!

Have a good week, Shannon! :)

That is hilarious! We actually spent yesterday deciding what was wrong with my youngest daughter because she's the same way, rarely fussy. Well, we came to the conclusion that she's got a cold, poor thing. Glad you figured out your daughter's solution, and that it was a simple fix. Haha!

That is so funny! Sometimes you just have to embrace those funny "mama missed that happening" moments.

That's funny! Isn't it amazing some of the things they do? As for mommy brain, I claimed it with my 2 year old before the twins were even born! So I figure I have at least another year and a half of using it with the twins :)

Oh that is hilarious!!! Well, now it is. I'm sure it wasn't funny for GG when it was under her clothes. That tube is huge! I'm glad it was a simple fix for her. I was blessed with easy babies too, so I run down the same list of possibilities when someone is fussing.

And no...there is no statute of limitations on mommy brain. And each kid makes you dumber. That is why I'm stopping at two...I can't afford to lose any more brain cells! :-)

Sweet GG! That is such a funny story. My friend recently found her pearl earrings in her son's diaper. apparently, it happens more than you'd think.

LOL! OMG, I busted out laughing as soon as I read this. Poor sweet thing! What a good sport she was, she probably thought it was a new accessory of some sort. Have a good afternoon! I am enjoying my Tuesday off from work with my girl!!!

I am guessing that you just told a story that you will repeat frequently over the years.

She looks adorable in that photo.

That baby of yours is enough for me to want another one! Funny, funny story.

And no, Mommy Brain (or lack of one!) does NOT go away, even after 16 years. Still waiting to remember what I was going to do next!!

You made me laugh harder than I have laughed all day! Thanks :)

Okay, but seriously...weren't you also relieved to know that that was the reason she was irritable? At least, that is the way I am. I fret until I know the cause. So relief would've washed over me once I found it...even if it did mean I was the moron (not that you are) that caused it ;)

Oh my gosh! That is slightly awesome. Not for the poor baby of course, but that it was actually in there!!

At least you have your happy go lucky baby back?

Rosemary is so.. um.. spirited, I can't imagine having a baby who is so content.

I'm glad your detective skills figured it out!

You get a pass. I promise you in 20 years GG will not remember the day she toted a tube of butt paste around in her onesie!
