Punkin Pickin'

Last week Bret and I took Gillian Grace to the pumpkin patch at our church. Wanting to go when the crowds would be at a minimum, we decided to go on a weekday. Our choice of days couldn't have been better as the patch was practically empty. However our timing---noonish with temperatures in the 80s--- couldn't have been worse. At my request, we were all dressed for Fall which meant long sleeves and pants. Needless to say after a few minutes in the patch, we were ready to call it a day.

Later that same week, we dressed GG in her Fall finest and headed off to the pumpkin patch once again. With Bret facing a full day of meetings and work related obligations, Gammie gladly stepped in to join us on our punkin pickin' excursion. Learning from our past gourd goof up, we hit the patch shortly after it opened at ten and made a bee line for the pile of pumpkins shaded by an enormous oak. Our morning trip was far more comfortable with cooler temperatures and plenty of shade, but we still faced another, far more formidable, obstacle---a tired Gillian Grace. Ususally beginning somewhere between 9 and 10, our trip coincided with Gillian's naptime. Although she was not overly fussy or grumpy, GG's smiles were few and far between a telltale sign that she was exhausted. Fortunately, I was still able to capture many great shots of Gillian. But with that said, she could probably wear a paper bag over her head and I'd still find her absolutely adorable. But, then again perhaps I am just a tad biased.
