New Kids on the Block

Out of all the families on our street with children, our next door neighbors are the only family with a girl. Boys ruled the 'hood until this past summer. Beginning in April our street experienced a baby boom. First Thomas and Kathy, our across the street neighbors, became first time grandparents as they welcomed their daughter's baby girl, Kathrine Grace, into the world. Then in July, the one and only Miss Gillian Grace was born. Just a little over a month later, Thomas and Kathy became grandparents for the second time in four months when Patton Camille, their son's daughter, was born on August 22nd (We share a birthday!).

Just this week we were able to get the girls together for their first play date. This was Gillian's first time around other babies and at first she wasn't quite sure what to make of it all. Each of the ladies were on their best behavior during our get together. Katherine Grace, or Gracie as she's called, played in her Exersaucer; Patton Camille dined on a fine meal of formula; and Gillian sized up her new friends while hanging out in Daddy's arms.

I can't wait to watch as the Mavens of McGregor Court grow in the years to come. From first bike rides to first dates, I hope the three girls will share many exciting memories and form a friendship that will last a lifetime.

Gracie will be six months old next week. Gracie's first reaction when close enough to reach Gillian was to reach for her hand. Gracie then went straight for those adorable lips we all love. What sweethearts!
