two. {temper, temper }

It seems that my sweet bean has inherited another one of my fabulous traits, a temper. Lately Gillian Grace has been asserting herself more and more, testing the boundaries of acceptable behavior, and, quite frankly, our patience. While I try my best to remain calm and composed, my flushed cheeks and profuse sweating, make it difficult to hide my total embarrassment from the rest of the world. Surely I'm not the first momma who's experienced a toddler's  Chernobyl like meltdown in a public place. So tell me, how do you handle it?

three. {copy cat, on the cheap}

I've been so inspired by some of the do-it-yourself projects I've seen on blogs everywhere in the past few weeks, that I've decided to try my hand at re-creating some of my favorites and call the posts: See It. Like It. Make It. First on the list, a hair bow organizer for Lil' Miss Priss. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

four. {snikiddy snacks}

Several months ago, I was asked to do a review of Snikiddy Cheddar Cheese Fries. Never having been able to turn down anything free, I agreed, but was incredibly skeptical of this funny sounding snack. Snikiddy Cheddar Cheese Fries offer a healthy alternative to potato chips and are peanut and gluten free. But probably most surprising was that my own little picky eater gobbled them up and kept coming back for more. GG loved this snack and now Snikiddy snacks have quickly become a staple in our home.

five. {a sour note}

Back in August, Gillian Grace began attending weekly Kindermusik classes at a local church in town. Over the weeks, I've been delighted to watch as GG has grown and matured little by little with each class. For her first time in a structured social setting, Gillybean has surpassed my expectations. And though her Daddy may not want to hear it, she even has a boyfriend---a little guy a few months younger that follows her around and makes her laugh. And while I would highly recommend visiting the Kindermusik site to find a class in your area, I sit here with fingers crossed hoping that the adorable runny-nosed, coughing, and drooling-all-over-the-instruments-munchkin from last Tuesday, uses this week's break to get the rest he needs to fully recover from his obvious, to everyone else in the room but his own mother, summer cold.

Seriously lady, what were you thinking? Keep your cute lil' germ generator home!

First class, GG still wasn't too sure about it all! And believe it or not, ever since we've been too busy making noise music to pose for pictures!

Oh, Gillybean just keeps getting more and more adorable. It sounds like she's having a great time in Kindermusic--other than running into other little munchkins with colds... Yes, my little boy has already come down with two since Sept., but we try to stay away from any place where he can transmit it to other little ones. Happy Tuesday!

Hi Shannon! I have Jillian sitting on my lap with me and she started smiling and clapping when she saw the pictures of GG eating her snacks! I just know they would be friends IRL :)

You are the second blogger to talk about Kindermusick. I would love to talk to you more about it! I am really thinking of signing up. I will send you an email so we can chat about it.
Happy Tuesday!

Those Halloween stickers are too cute! I have recently become obsessed with tinyprints but they are so darn expensive. These prices look a little better :) I love the "Eye Got You" ones but I think my favorite one is the "Trick or Treat Candy"...so cute!

I love miscellany monday on Tuesday ;) That's the story of my life right now, ha!

I had to chime in here on the temper tantrums. My little stinker will be 18 months old in a few days and he has a complete meltdown at least once a week. I don't even want to think about his terrible two's!! I'll be praying for us both!

I'm feeling your pain on the public meltdowns.
I just remember that whenever I got so frustrated, angry or embarrassed by my child's tantrums that I would just leave. If I had a cart full of groceries, if I was in line at the store, no matter where I was, if they pulled that nonsense with me, it was game over and that would end our outting.
I remember taking my infant son and my daughter Emily into a store to buy summer clothes for our vacation and Emily threw a major tantrum and another lady's little girl came up to my daughter and said, "Why are you being so bad for your mommy?" Emily was shocked, but that wasn't quite the deterent that I had hoped for because she kept it going, so I left the mountain of clothes that I spent a long time picking out and had Eric in the baby carrier on my arm and I was literally dragging Emily across the parking lot to the car. It was not pretty and I was mortified and outnumbered, but it's all a faint memory now. I have been lucky not to have too many of those times. It's when they get older and throw their teenage tantrums and all that drama that makes me want to lose it.
Buck up girl, you are a tough Southern Gal. Have faith... you'll get through it.

I'm starting to get nervous about the temper tantrums...they haven't surfaced yet, and especially not in public...I will somehow try to keep my cool and I will refuse to make eye contact with anyone standing around... I don't need their judgment!

We will have to find some snikiddy snacks for Little Man to try...he's still not eating much other than baby food!

I like the Dangling Spider and Trick or Treat Candy stickers!

Hope you are having a good Tuesday :)

GG is so cute! Lexie started with the attitude when she turned 1, and unfortunately, it has gotten progressively worse. She tests my patience several times a day! Just keep smiling and stay consistent! ;)

I swear by 1-2-3 Magic in regards to the temper tantrums. It really works. I rarely have to get to 3. She tells me at 2, "no 3 no 3" because she knows 3 means an instant time out from what she's doing. The book also discusses how to use 1-2-3 Magic in public places...like the grocery store. There's no yelling, no debate, no discussion. You count. Game over.

If it makes you feel any better when I was a wee little one I would randomly fall out in stores and start crying like crazy and making a scene. My mom couldn't fogure out what to do withe everytime I did this so she finally told my pediatrician about it. He told her to just pay me no attention because on the end that's all that I was doing. Being an attention whore. I eventually stopped lol. Ask your pediatrician for advice, obviously it worked for my mom. I'm 22 and haven't fallen out in the floor at any stores crying in years! HA! But in all seriousness make sure GG knows that there's a distinct line that should not be crossed. How you do that I'm not quite sure but I'll get back to you when I have a tot of my own :)

Ps. The Halloween stickers are super cute!

Hi, What cute stickers. I like lots of them but my favorites are the picture window pane one and also the one with the spider dangling down. Too cute...especially love those two because you can add your little one's photo. :-)

Hey there....I have been a little behind on my reading these last few days. First, love the bow holder idea. I am sure that the one you make is going to be fab...can't wait to see it. Next, I am warning you now...as GG gets older, your patience is going to get thinner and there will be many more grey hairs on your head. Embrace it now...LOL! So great to see that she is enjoying her music glass. She is at an age now where these types of classes really help with their socialization. And she looks as cute as ever :)
