What I'm loving today!

Happy Thursday to you, friends!

After feeling a bit stressed with all the mounting Christmas related stuff stacking up on my plate higher than flapjacks at IHOP, I awoke this morning with a fresh perspective---Whether tomorrow or next week, it will all get done!

And after seeing Christmas wish lists popping up all over the place, I wanted to share something that I'm currently loving...a lot!

Fisher-Price Little People Nativity Playset
(Toys R' Us)

I first saw this set a few weeks ago and immediately emailed my mom with the subject line, "must-have"! Knowing how much Sweet Bean enjoys playing with little figurines, I had a feeling she'd love this too.  Since opening the box, Gillian Grace has enjoyed playing with all the characters, though her favorites seem to be the animals and Wise Men.  Just today, I caught her trying to cram all of the characters into the stable. Guess if GG had been in charge that Christmas Eve night, we would have had a different ending to the story---Gillian Grace would have definitely made room at the Inn.

Speaking of what I'm loving, I'm totally not loving the snippy young salesgirl at Toys R' Us the day we purchased the Nativity set.

The conversation went a little something like this...

Me: Excuse me. (Said to young girl in Toys R' Us vest and name tag). Can you please help me?

Salesgirl: Says nothing but stops and turns toward me.

Me: Yes, I'm looking for the Fisher-Price Little People Nativity set. Can you tell me where I can find it?

Salesgirl: Um, well, I got to work early today and I'm not officially on the clock.  I can't help you yet.

Me: Speechless!

Funny thing is once I actually found the kit, on my own I might add, it was only about one aisle away from where I first stopped to ask the salesgirl. When I retold the story later that night to my husband, he accused me of making it up. Surely, no one could be that inconsiderate, ridiculous, and incompetent he said!

Newsflash, they can and she was! Clearly Miss Whatshername Teenybopper at Toys R' Us is in desperate need of a customer service refresher course!

I mean seriously what does this mean about the world today, when someone can't take a second out of their day to help someone else out? (...stepping down from my soapbox now...)

Geoffrey must be so ashamed!

The LP Manger scene is a huge hit at our house, too. I think it keeps them interested because it only makes an appearance 6 weeks out of the year. ;)

The nativity scene is so cute! Not so cute is the Toys R Us saleswoman's attitude!! I can't believe she wasn't going to assist you! So rude! When things like that happen to me, it just makes me want to be a kinder person to everyone else!

seriously? good thing my hubs wasn't with you....he isn't the good customer when stuff like that happens!

as for gg....hello...was she too cute or what?!

Oh my goodness!! Look how adorable your little girl is!!! Her dress is too cute!!! What a sweetie!

We have the Nativity set too and it's so much fun to see my girls act out the Nativity!

And the not so nice CS person at Toys R Us? I would have gotten her name and write to corporate about the horrid service you received. That's not cool at all!

That nativity scene is a must have! I love it! I think it's so cute how GG is always dressed in her smocked attire for the season. She is such a stylish little girl!

Hi Shannon. I am shell shocked at the lack of service! Shew! That is so crazy. Just so glad that your little darling is getting such fun from her new pressie though. I want to look out for that for my littlest niece. It is gorgeous.
Thanks for your visit over at my blog today. I am looking forward to following your posts. Have a wonderful day.

Geoffrey - haaaaaaaa! love it!!! Love that last pictures of GG, too!

Yes, I watched some (read - in FWD mode, via dvr) of the CMA Chrstimas special. I thought it was a little cheese. So sad no Parenthood this week!

That's a pretty cool nativity toy!

By the way: I did get Ruari's (Laureli's) name from the Gilmore girls. :D

That nativity set is the cutest !! Maybe Abby needs one :) I can't believe the salesgirl responded like that, seriously, what is the world coming to?!?! Happy Thursday Shannon!

We bought that Nativity set last year. I fell in love with it immediately. Both kids, despite not really playing with Little People anymore (which saddens me) love playing with it and setting it up lol.

As for the sales girl; shame on her. I can't believe she couldn't take two seconds to help you. Actually I can. It's become the way of the world unfortunately.

Oh, I would have totally complained to management. But that's just me.

Another one of those adorable dresses! I must know! ;)

Lallie loved the little people sets. We have the barn and Noah's Ark, but I had no idea they had the Nativity! She's a little too old now, doesn't play with them anymore, but she does lover her Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Wise Man and Shepard stacking dolls. She has played with them for a whole year and refuses to let anyone touch her "baby Jesus!" It's so cute!

Yea! We love our LP Nativity set! Olivia plays and plays with it. Everyone has been stuck to the top of the stable at some point, too. :)

OMG!! Nik has that same Nativity Set! She has been playing with it all weekend/week! She ADores it! I see Miss G does too! Isn't it the cutest! How adorable! I LOVE it! When I was little, I always used to try and play with my mom's. I always stole baby Jesus, and would hold him in my hands and twirl around singing to him, ha! Isn;t it awesome that now, we have these to preserve our Nativity Sets!

Our Toys R us is horrible! It's filthy! The bathrooms are something out of 'Nam, and you wouldn't go in there unless you wanted Lysteria. There is usually only one person checkign out, every day! And they are horrible about returns! I feel ya!

Love ya!

Love the nativity set!!

I can't stand when people are in a "customer service" type job and they are just plain rude!! Ugh...makes me want to smack them! I always like to have witty remarks on hand that are not so nice words said in a nice way.

A girl blatantly took my parking spot one day, and I walked past her into the store (son in hand) and said, "You were so sweet to take that spot from me. Thanks!" (and gave her a big smile...she avoided me in the store!)

Okay that's mean...but I get so mad!

That's an adorable nativity set! I'm sure Jack would love it too. We need some LP stuff - I always forget about them.

You have got to stop with the adorable smocked dresses! You are making me want a little girl SOO BAD! And since that's not going to happen, I need not be tempted anymore! J/K! GG is adorable!

This is so funny, but I was *this* close to blogging about Bobby's love for our LP Nativity set. I can see it out of the corner of my eye - muah muah muah!

Lisha @ DeLovely Life said...

That is so stinkin cute. :) And I used to play with my mama's real nativity set when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure baby Jesus tried to hitch a ride on a donkey or something. And as for the sales associate, technically you aren't supposed to do any work off the clock but she shouldn't be standing around in the store without clocking in. Rule of thumb from all the customer service places I've worked: Help the customers first. Worry about fixing your time in and time out later. So yeh, she didn't make a very good customer service decision. If it's the store policy to have your associates loafing around the store before clocking-in, they need to fix it...stat.

We love the nativity set too, although our dog has chewed on baby Jesus and a camel :( Loved the pics!

I saw that set too and want it! It's too adorable.

She is such a cutie pie!

As for the toys r us incident, ugh! How ridiculous!

I saw that set!! I love it. I think that Blake would love it...we are pretty much obsessed with FP Little People right now :) Might have to go get it now....haha

I have LP Nativity envy. I am going to Toys R Us tomorrow to get one for B. He is CONSTANTLY in mine!

Jennie said...

Wow, that is customer service at its best!

Jennifer said...

I have seen that playset and was going to get it myself. But, I need to start limiting what I am buying or it is going to look like Toys R Us in my house!! But if it does, I will not be as rude and the salesgirl that helped you :) I think the kids these days that work in these stores just don't care. I worked retail for many years and I swear, I would never have put up with that when I was a manager. And the fact that everyone is as slow as molasses just makes me more nuts!! Anyway, I love the GG is playing with her new set and she looks adorable playing peek a boo with her animals.

That nativity set is too cute. I definitely want to buy one for my Lil' Lew.

Oh yes, the tale of the lazy, apathetic worker who says, "it's not my job" or, in your case, "I'm not on the clock." I have lots of students in my class that display this type of apathy...Doesn't anyone want to do and be their best anymore? That's totally a shame...

That nativity set is adorable!

Happens at Walmart all the time. I find it on the next aisle and take it back to the person who told me they didn't carry it anymore and ask if they want ME to show them where it is so they can do their job. Ugh! On a lighter note....Must get a FP nativity for Keller!!! Love it!!!

Liz Mays said...

Honestly, employees are so lazy!! That's outrageous, but given my forever experience with TRU, I'm not all that surprised.

Yes, I do have that code you want, but it's hard for me to figure out how to find it now. LOL I will though!!!!

Shannon, two things - 1) I LOVE your blog header... so cute with all the photos, and 2) your daughter is a DOLL. Oh wait, I mean three things - 3) People like that TRU sales person make me crazy.
