Weekend Update

Saturday afternoon Bret and I had our first lunch date with Miss Gillian. Crazy, right? Gillian is over two months old and yet Bret and I had never gone to a restaurant with her in tow. With the swine flu running rampant through Mobile since late Summer, Bret and I erred on the side of caution and kept her out of most public places until several weeks ago.

Wanting to be home in time to watch our Saturday SEC football, we loaded up on the hand sanitizer and headed to McAlister's Deli for lunch. McAlister's has been a favorite of ours since our college days in Gainesville. In typical Gillian style, she slept through most of lunch waking only long enough to show her obvious disapproval of an obnoxious toddler's behavior as he went stomping through the restaurant playing hide-and-seek. Hello, where were his parents?

Tea as sweet as me! Gillian is snoozing through lunch.

Gillian continued snoozing through much of the afternoon. And, as though she knew what was about to happen, Gillian awoke from her sound sleep just minutes before Florida was set to kick off against the Kentucky Wildcats. We capped off Saturday with our game and, as a family, watched in horror as our boy Tebow took a hit that left us all speechless. With Heaven and the entire Gator Nation on his side, Superman will surely make a full recovery.

Gillian watches as Tebow takes a bad hit.

Sunday morning I packed and Bret loaded the car for a Mommy and GillyBean road trip to Gammie and Grandad's. Bret needed to spend the day at work and not wanting to hang around the house all day, Gillian and I decided to head east for a visit. The rest of our Sunday was spent shopping with Gammie and enjoying a nice family dinner. Gillian and I will head home sometime Monday after hitting a few more stores around town.

For only two people, Gillian and I sure do have a lot of stuff.

Here's a closeup of the adorable onesie Gillian sported for Gammie today.

Hard to believe yet another weekend has come and gone. It seems that I no more wake up Saturday morning before I'm crawling into bed Sunday night.
